FAQs

  • Why is DHA recommend for pregnancy?
DHA is an essential omega‑3 fatty acid that supports your baby’s brain and eye development. It also helps maintain maternal emotional wellbeing and can reduce the risk of preterm birth. Since many women don’t get enough DHA from diet alone, supplementation ensures both you and your baby get what you need.

  • What is the recommended DHA intake for pregnancy?
Many guidelines suggest a minimum of 200–300 mg of DHA per day during pregnancy. However, clinical studies indicate that a daily intake of 600–1,000 mg can significantly reduce the risk of preterm birth. This means the 200–300 mg dose should be considered a baseline rather than an optimal target. Women with low dietary intake, low blood DHA levels, or higher risk of pregnancy complications may particularly benefit from taking 600–1,000 mg daily.

  • Does it have a fishy aftertaste?
No, NurtureOmega is made using advance purification technology to remove heavy metals to ensure its ultra pure, cleaning-tasting and has no odour.

  • What if it doesn’t work for me?
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can try it risk-free.

  • Who developed the NurtureOmega?Nurture supplements were carefully created by Professor Mark Johnson, a leading UK obstetrician, and supported by a team of midwives and nutritionists to give you and your baby the nutrients you need.

Why is DHA so important?

Professor Mark Johnson, Founder of Nurture and leading Obstetrician & Gynaecologist on DHA in pregnancy:

“DHA is vital for fetal brain development, yet many women don’t get enough through diet alone. Low DHA levels have been linked to early delivery, cognitive challenges in infants, and even mood disorders in mums during and after pregnancy. That’s why I worked closely with the team to develop NurtureOmega™ — ensuring expectant mothers have access to high-quality, highly absorbable DHA.”

Omega-3 DHA designed for pregnancy

"DHA is one of the nutrients many women aren’t getting enough of, and most omega-3 supplements simply don’t come close to giving you the right level of support. NurtureOmega gives you 600mg of DHA, which research shows can lead to better outcomes, in a form that’s been carefully purified and is easy to take. I’ve been taking it myself throughout my own pregnancy and it’s the one I feel confident recommending."

Nice high DHA fish oil capsules

These are great quality fish oil that are high in DHA. Personally I’ve never had too much of an issue with the taste of fish oil but if you do, having to take less capsules as these are higher strength will be better.I really like that these capsules have around double the quantity of DHA compared to “normal” 1000 mg capsules. This means I have been able to reduce the quantity I normally take from 4 capsules to 2. These capsules are a fair bit smaller at 600mg. So might be easier to swallow compared to the 1000mg ones. The dose is 2 capsules with means this pack of 56 will last you 28 days.Overall I think this is great quality fish oil, value wise these are much, much better value compared to other higher strength fish oils out there. The fact you can half the daily intake. At the current price of 17 quid seems a little steep but when you take into account the higher level of DHA these are fairly good value. As such I recommend these.

What's this?
1200mg Fish Oil with 600mg DHA optimised for prenatal support

High-strength Omega supplements are all a bit relative. This one claims 60mg EPA & 300mg DHA per softgel, and the recommended serving is two per day, meaning you get a four-week supply for around £17.00 at the time of writing, which seems pretty expensive to me. The packet is quite small and sparsely filled, which exacerbates the poor perception of value.Strength-wise, it's all about the EPA and DHA, along with their relative ratios. The accepted recommended 'general' ratio seems to depend on the benefit you're looking for. Still, EPA is usually higher than DHA, typically 2:1 to 5:1, so in terms of overall dosage and ratio, these are completely opposite to the majority of brands, which use a 1:5 EPA-to-DHA ratio. The reason, though, is the specialisation towards prenatal care.Supposedly formulated by a leading Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, higher DHA ratios are more common in prenatal vitamins (to help the baby's brain grow) and also as "Brain Support" formulas for seniors.Omega-3 is supposed to support daily nervous system function and mental clarity, and help maintain proper heart function, and these are clearly optimised for prenatal support. These softgels themselves look pretty much the same as most others. They're easy to swallow and have no noticeable smell or taste. They come in a resealable pouch and are allegedly sustainably sourced from wild-caught fish and manufactured in the UK. Every batch is supposedly tested for bacteria and heavy metals. So compared to general Omega supplements, these are quite expensive, but I guess if you are taking extra care due to pregnancy, the extra cost may be offset by a more quality-tested product

A premium for pregnancy

We got these to try and these are designed to take when pregnant. We came across this sort of thing years ago where we only used one tummy tablet because it was verified to be okay when pregnant, even though the other brands were probably no different. The difference is these were in shops with checks done. Buying online you have to trust the brand has tested and had it verified that these are safe for pregnancy. Assuming they are, these are good to get. They are easy to swallow with water and are the same as other omega 3 capsules. Same amounts and mix. There’s no taste to them and you get the same supply. The price is higher than others and that’s due to the testing done. And these are so good for you that taking them during pregnancy is something we want to do.So overall these are more costly but you’re paying for peace of mind. We’re happy with them.

Not soft but easy to swallow. No aftertaste and have a high dose of DHA...

These Omega 3 fish oil gel capsules have a strength of 1200mg and come in a resealable pouch. I had the 1-month supply [56 capsules] with high levels of EPA and DHA and Omega 3. The capsules are oval in shape but are small enough to be swallowed easily. They aren’t really soft as it’s difficult to squeeze them between your fingers, but this doesn’t change the fact they are easy to swallow. These also include 120mg EPA and 600mg DHA which helps to support normal heart, brain and eye function.I’ve been taking Omega 3 oil capsules for years now, which has helped with my joints and health benefits, and these seem to work as well as my usual ones. They are easy to swallow with water, with no after taste. They are a little smaller than the usual torpedo shaped ones and I had no problem taking them. They do have a slight, sweet taste to the outside of the capsule but it’s very subtle and rather quite nice. These are high strength ones though so I’m only taking one a day so will last me 2 months with taking one a day instead of two a day.

Good quality supplement, easy to take

Picked this up as a prenatal omega 3 supplement and it’s been good so far.Capsules are easy to swallow and there’s no strong fishy aftertaste, which is often the main issue with fish oil. They seem well made and the packaging and information give confidence that it’s been properly tested. The DHA content is solid for a prenatal supplement and it’s nice knowing it’s been formulated specifically with pregnancy in mind.Obviously supplements take time and consistency, so it’s more about the overall nutrition support rather than expecting anything dramatic overnight.Good bits• Easy to take• No unpleasant fishy taste• Good DHA content• Designed specifically for pregnancyLess good• Only a 4 week supplyIf you’re looking for a prenatal omega 3 supplement with good DHA levels, this seems like a reliable option.

Nice but expensive.

These capsules come in a resealable pack and are easy to swallow. No aftertaste or funny smell either.Good levels of DHA and surprisingly lower levels of EPA than you'd get with such high levels of DHA. Still pretty good though and there are far worse out there. For under a month's supply they are quite expensive though and hard to give the full 5 stars.

Four weeks worth of fish oil capsules, small and easy to swallow.

These fish oil capsules with Omega 3 are are marketed for pregnancy, but are not any different to regular omegas. They are of the softgel type, although the ‘softgel’ is actually quite hard. They are small jemmy bean gels that are super easy to swallow, While they DO smell fishy, there is no taste or aftertaste. One serving is two capsules which contains 1200mg of fish oil giving 120 of EPA and 600 DHA.There are 56 gels (an odd amount?), so this makes the pouch a 28 day supply, or 4 weeks, so I suppose that does make sense actually.I think these days most sources agree that fish oil is beneficial and these ones seem to contain a decent amount.I’ll continue with them for the rest of the month and see what the difference is, hopefully I’ll notice one. So far, I’m certainly not noticing any negatives so that’s a great start.

Excellent !

I’ve been taking this prenatal Omega 3 supplement and I’m really pleased with the quality. The capsules are easy to take and, unlike some fish oil products, they don’t leave a strong fishy aftertaste. I like that each serving provides a high amount of DHA and EPA, which are important for supporting my baby’s brain and eye development during pregnancy. It’s also reassuring to know the formula supports heart and brain health for mums as well. The product feels trustworthy since it’s developed with expert input and manufactured in the UK with strict purity testing. Overall, it’s a reliable and well-made supplement that fits nicely into my daily routine.

Quality prenatal omega-3 with standout DHA and sustainability

I picked up the Nurture Omega 3 1200mg Fish Oil with 600mg DHA for my partner during her pregnancy, aiming for something that ticked all the boxes on quality, safety, and convenience. What stood out immediately was the high DHA content – 600mg in a single softgel – which is well above the minimum you see in most general fish oils. That means just one capsule a day, which is a relief when you’re already juggling a handful of other supplements. The big selling point for me was the purity testing for mercury and PCBs. With so much talk about contaminants in fish oil, especially for prenatal use, knowing each batch is third-party tested gave real peace of mind. The softgels are easy to swallow and, true to the claim, there’s no lingering fishy aftertaste – a small mercy if you’re dealing with morning queasiness.

An easy to take supplement.

As I get older, I try to pay more attention to my general well-being and occasionally include supplements as part of my routine. These Omega 3 capsules come in a zip-lock, sturdy plastic pouch. The packaging includes directions for use and manufacturer information clearly printed on the back. There are 56 capsules in total, providing a twenty-eight-day supply when taken at the recommended dose of two per day. The capsules are a little larger than the average size, but easy to swallow with water. They are odourless and tasteless, making them easy to take. The coating is smooth, which helps them go down easily. They would be suitable for anyone looking for a straightforward, no-frills omega 3 supplement. I find them easy to incorporate into my daily routine. At £16.99 for 56 capsules at the time of review, I found them to be more expensive than some comparable options.4 out of 5 for ease of taking and value.

Easy to Take and Great Quality Omega 3

I’ve been really happy with these Omega 3 capsules. The softgels are easy to swallow and I haven’t experienced any unpleasant aftertaste, which can sometimes happen with fish oil supplements.I like that they contain a good amount of DHA and EPA, which is reassuring during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. The packaging is also nice and simple, and the pouch keeps everything fresh and easy to store. For the price, I think they’re very good value for money compared to similar supplements. Overall, a great quality product that I feel good about taking every day. I’d happily purchase these again.
