Low omega-3 intake linked to higher depression and anxiety in pregnant Omani women

16 Apr 2025

This study explored the relationship between omega-3 fatty acid intake and mental health among pregnant women in Oman.

Findings revealed that 30.5% of participants exhibited depressive symptoms, while 26.1% showed anxiety symptoms. These symptoms were significantly associated with lower fish consumption and reduced omega-3 intake.

These findings suggest that low omega-3 fatty acid intake during pregnancy is associated with increased risk of depression and anxiety.
